purple algae

i am recently cycling my tank with live sand,dead coral and 4 damsels.i have had brown algae then green algae but out of no where i suddenly got a purplish thing growing on my sand and my dead corals,i have never seen this before and i was wondering if anybody knows what the heck this is and if it is harmful.so far my anomia has peaked and when do to zero and my nitrite just peaks and going down.i was just wondering if anybopdy can help.

It sounds kinda like SLIME ALGAE from that limited description. Look on this BB for other posts about slime.There have been a few in the last couple weeks. Or use the search.

I agree. High phosphates and/or silicates. Water changes should help remove it if you use RO water.
