Purple Algae

my purple algae on my live rock is changing to brown or dark purple....is it dying? my tank is still cycling, i think i might need a certain type of bulb...and no im not gonna buy a whole setup for hundreds of dollars.....i just want the bulbs....if thats what happening....

Sounds like it is Cyano growing on your rocks. Part of the normal cycle process. Keep up on filtration and water changes, be patient with introducing new creatures, don't overfeed when you do, and it should go away.

I think you meant diatoms...not cyano. Cyano, or red slime algae, is bad. Diatoms are normal for a curing tank and will go away in the next month or so.
