Purple rimmed monti cap

Do you need MH lights for this one? Also I wanted to see if any1 had any of their own pictures of their monti's. I really want to see some larger monti's

im not 100% sure but i think you do need MH for them.

I have lots of nice sized monti caps in my tank- Idont think MH is a must to have them but for the best growth and color they are.

You don't need metal halides to get good growth with caps. I have my monti cap frags under only T5 and VHO lights (2x80 + 2x160) of each. The mother colony is under MH but the frags are only under the T5/VHO. They are in the same water, etc and they grow almost as fast as under the MH (although tthey are at the top of the water compared to the middle of the water for the MH).
