Cyanobacteria (aka slime algea) is caused by lighting changes, high phosphates, and/or high silicates. Eliminate the source with water changes with RO water. Also manually remove the slime algea.
I've got a good size clean-up gang and they take care of every thing BUT the red slime....I get a little now and then....what I do is manually remove it.........and its not got out of hand.....make sure phosphates and silicates are in check....I think a little slime is to be expected.....but you can keep it under control
at least thats my experience
