I have a purple slime growing in my tank. It is on my rocks, sand and has covered my sponge. I brush it off with a sponge but it keeps growing back. Any ideas on contolling it. It is pretty but it has taken over.

Water quality. Water changes. Not enough filtration? Stop adding all the supplements. You're adding too much?

get some water movement, cut down on lighting time, and feed a little less along with water changes and skimmer cleanings

You are experiencing an "cyanobacteria" outbreak. Please search the forums for "cyano." It is VERY common. There are hundreds of posts about it.
I probably respond to at least one cyano thread a day... haha.
Cyanobacteria, also named red slime algae. (yes it's brown, green and purple)
It also looks HAIRY when you break the C02 bubbles within it too right?
search the forums for "cyano."
