Purple tip anemone...night shrinkage?

I woke up this morning and my purple tip anemone was on the sand all shriveled up and looked dead. the fingers were gray and very thin. i turned on the lights and moved him onto a rock and now this afternoon he is just fine and vibrant white again...do they do this at night when the lights are off?

Yes they will shrink during the nocturnal period. If you have an LTA then you should leave him on the substrate which is mostl likely where he will wind up anyway.
