My best suggestion to get coralline algae to grow is to make sure your alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium are at its proper levels, and the live rock is getting enough light.
Purple Up has been known to raise calcium levels way too high.

I used purple up and I didn't get any coralline growth. All it did for me was put my calcium through the roof.
A waste of money IMO.
I used it and still dose it from time to time just so I don't feel like I wasted money on it. I don't think it has helped much and the reson I quit using it all the time because it kept shooting my ca too high and depleting my kh. I also used it because I was having a hard time getting my ca and alk stabalized. I quit using the purple up and started using seachem ca and alk and got my parameters in order and in no time, corraline algae was taking off. Now I also do water changes once a week in order to keep everything good.
I use it and still have to use a calcuim boster to get my calcuim over 400.... maybe the addion of proper lighting will change things? However I have not noticed any increases in coraline growth, I think from what have seen that having the proper lighting conditions and water conditions has a greater impact on coraline growth, more so than the use of purple up. Then again my LFS swears by it.... :notsure:

The LFS swears by it, because everybody wants coralline algae, so Purple Up is a good money-maker.
wow so many responces. Okay so if i keep all my levels right i should get some growth? What if i got out and buy some rock that already has it, will that speed up the process some?

Good call.
Fresh saltwater is pretty well balanced as well. Don't know about your water change schedule, but that will help keep your levels on track and fairly high.
Can also look into a kalk drip if you keep corals.
