I want to put GSP in my tank, but im worried about it taking over, i have heard a lot of horror stories. I was wondering if i put it on a rock seperate from the rest of my rockwork would it be able to spread to the rest of my rockwork?

In my experience it isn't that bad, but if it is in a good environment, it will spread and do very well if it has adjacent rockwork to spread to. I hacked my clump in half with a meat cleaver-went right through the rock too-put one piece in my nano tank at work and the other back into my DT and they are both doing very well.

Here's a suggestion of what I did.....I put it on a rock on the back of my tank up pretty high, it will eventually start growing up the back of the tank (hopefully) and is really cool to see them all on the back of the tank.

gsp can and will spread to any rocks next to it. they dont grow as fast as xenia. i hv quite a bit of gsp in my reef, and it killed many of my zoas by growing over them. i hv plenty of zoas though, so it doesn really bother me as of right now.

I love my GSP they are so pretty in color and add that nice movement to the tank. What I did is have them on a piece of rock of their own, when they get to full on that rock and want to spread off I take it out and hack away at to to the size I want it to be, for me it quickly grows back on the rock again but its not big deal.
If it touches other rock it will spread to that rock as well. So just keep it on its own rock.
