The aquaC is simple to setup outside the sump heres a drawing of how my EV-180 is setup. I have mine plumbed over the edge of my sump since I had a bench that sits behind my sump for the skimmer to set on. If you don't want it to sit that high you will have to drill the side of your sump so that you can pass the skimmer discharge through the side.
One thing you need to do though is either build a waste canister, buy one, or at least put the drain tube inside your sump these skimmers can pump some serious water out during break in or if you put something in your tank that makes the skimmer go crazy. I have had small floods twice due to this.
