HELP!!!!! I am ready to put water in my 29 gallon tank for the first time. I will be using ro/di water. I have heard that it might need to sit in a tub before using it. Is that true or can I just put it in dirrectly into the tank and add the salt. I know it needs to be circulating and but thats about it. I want to put live rock and sand in it also, how long should I wait to do this my guess is 2 or three days. am I right?

Put it in now. You only need to let it sit when you have an established tank and you are going to do a water change. You are just starting up so there will be no problem. You can put it all in, sand, rock and water.

so when I have an established tank then I need to let it sit? I cannot use it right out of the ro/di system? How long does it need to age if you will

Since your just setting the tank up you can put the water right out of the RO/DI right into the tank and mix your salt there before you add anything else to the tank..... I'm not quite sure what you mean by how long to let it age after the tank is set up???!!!!
I think what was mentioned above is that the reason people put water into some type of reservoir is that it gives them a change to draw the correct amount of water they need for the water change and also a place to mix and aerate the new batch of water making sure that the salinity and temp is correct before adding it to their main tank.
