Ok, I have a dumb question... I'm setting up a 25 Gal QT tank and I bought some PVC Elbow Pipe to toss in there... Anyhow, the PVC Floats and moves arround with the current and stuff from the powerheads.... Can I use some type of Super Glue Gel or PVC Glue or Hot Melt Glue to glue a few pieces together into a little PVC structure and hopefully have it be heavy enough to not float away...

Sand? Per some direction on here, I wan't planning on any sand or Live Rock in the QT Tank...
I'm sure I can pick up some PVC Cement tomorrow and put the pieces together into a little QT PVC Condo.

Sorry for the vague description, allow me to clarify it. Glue the elbow to a small section of PVC filled with sand to prevent it from floating around. The sand is used to weigh the PVC down and is encapsulated after the PVC section is capped and sealed. It is not exposed to the water. You just glue this peice to back of a tube or elbow.

Ok, so I am either kinda slow or something...
I thought you wanted the PVC "Open" so the fish could swim in and Hide while in QT? I didn't have any plans to Seal any ends of the PVC, but maybe I'm not getting what I'm actually supposed to be doing with the PVC... I'm new to this whole Hobby, so you will have to bear with my stupidity...

Not stupid at all, I should have been more clear. You simply use a small encapsulated section of sand filled PVC tube as a weight and attach an open ended tube or elbow to this weight. You can even use zip ties to attach other fittings if your not concerned with looks. The capped and sealed tube is only a weight. Lots of options availible.
Best regards

What PVC are you using that floats? :notsure: The only PVC I have used for QT tanks has always sunk without problem. I used the larger 4" PVC sections.
I like the sand weight idea. I would go with zipties and simply weight the peices down.

I just went the "Ghetto" route and used black Zipties to connect the pieces together and between the 4-5 pieces there is enough weight to keep the little QT Condo at the bottom of the QT Tank.....

Hey....if it works!!!!

What I have also seen used is those ugly plastic saltwater rock formations for aquariums. Easy to take apart, look better than PVC (less "Ghetto"), and function the same...if not better. I may invest in some soon to avoid having to look at PVC for another month!!!
