Weldon #16 will glue PVC together just fine, but it can stay in the wetted form too long and actually make the fittings or tube soft and deformed. PVC cement as used and made for typical PVC pipe does not stay "wetted" as long so therefore it does not penetrate as deep.......And with pressures normally used with PVC pipe a deep penetrating glue is not needed. Just sufficiient wet to melt the surface a bit. So yes it would work but is way overkill and may present other problems as I stated.

For say 3/4" PVC fittings/bushings and only at most 200gph through it, would it be a ill advised?
