PVC setup for eel

We're planning on getting an eel of some sort for our new tank, and have heard a lot about PVC for eels to chill in. Was wondering how intricate the piping should be? Diameter, length? Maybe some of you who have set up something for your eels can let us know what you did, and give us some ideas. Thanks!

my snowflake is pushing 24" right now. the pvc is very simple. just go to your local home depot or lowes and buy some pvc and ask them to cut it for you. then you clean it and after you clean it you can put it in your tank. as for the size of the pipe, my pipe is the same length as my eel. im not sure of the width of my pipe, but i think it is the 2" diameter(sp?), but it might be 2.5" or 3". bo

When I bought my snowflake he was a trade in, and he came with his own pvc pipe. I just put the pvc in the bottom of some rock work, you can hardly see it, this is his safe haven, it has made him more relaxed. I think I will be buying and larger peice soon he has out growned it. Good Luck

Yes pvc works out well and only has to be a straight piece and the eel will be happy. My Ace Hdw sells all different sizes in white and grey and some are up to a foot in length so no cutting is required. I to buried mine under live rock so all you see is maybe a inch of it sticking out and usually that is where the eels head is sticking out so it likes it.
