pygmy angel tank size

i read a book(i forget the name, but it was a hard cover on nano reefs) and it had example fish lists for nano reefs and they had one of these little guys on the list for a 10 gallon size tank. it was a very informative book with a lot of good info but a lot of people would disagree with their tank size recomendation for these little fish.is it possible to keep a pygmy cherub angel in a 12 gallon nano if it was the only fish?

I would assume that it's not a good idea, as even though they are tiny, they still graze a LOT and with such a small tank, it's likely that you wouldn't have enough LR for algae for their grazing. I have one in my 45 and it grazes constantly.
Maybe someone else will chime in...

I don't have my Michael Scott book handy, but I know pygmys can take the smallest tanks of all the angels. but they are also probably the meanest angel, so you probably couldn't have any other fish in with it. with the vast array of food available to the aquarist, feeding shouldn't be a problem.

IMO opinion, these active little angels need a larger tank. I had one in a 15 gal and he swam in circles all day, never grazed, just swam around and around, same pattern all the time, made me dizzy. Felt bad so upgraded to a 55, he seems so much happier, no more circles. He swims in and out of rockwork, if you can say a fish is hyper, thats my little guy. I would be more concerned about swimming space then anything, they can move pretty quickly.

IMO a 20 gallon tank is small enough to be cruel. pygmies though small are very active fish. I think a 40 breeder is about the perfect size for one.

I'd agree with this. They are small but active and will use every bit of space.

Depends on environment to me, cuz i've seen some in tanks with no rock and they look really unhappy, but with rockwork that has holes and stuff for it to swim through, they look happy. Mine is in a 29g, but could see it in a 20 (long?) but yes, they are quite active.
