does anyone have pygmy seahorses? lfs has a couple for kinda cheap i think. wife wants them pretty bad and i was thinking real hard about it. i am looking for a little info on them. such as food and tank size and all of that. they will be in a tank on their own.

I have never personally owned one but everywhere I read about how difficult seahorses are to keep alive. Extremely fragile and will not endure water fluctuations at all. Again, just what I have heard....not from personal experience.

i have heard that too. i thought it was kind of odd when my lfs, which cannot keep a clean or decient salt tank, would have pygmy seahorses that have lived for 3-4 months now. i don't know how they do it.

Wild caught seahorses are very hard to keep. Captive bred aren't as hard.

I have seahorses, but they are kudas. Are pygmys the really little ones? If so, those are more difficult to keep. They have to be fed live brine (you have to hatch it everyday). My seahorses accept frozen mysis, no way would I have any that have to be fed live foods.

talked to the lady at the lfs. these are eating live brine and also frozen. looks like the wife put her foot down. i am setting up the tank today. and putting her foot down is about all the help i will get. but i found a link that talked about them. and it will be real interesting. wish me luck.

have the lfs feed the horse frozen food in front of your eyes. Just to confirm. Dwarf horses eating frozen is unheard of, mainly because the food is to big for their snouts. How big are these horses in inches? I would be amazed if they are eatig frozen.
