I am going to start a sump and was wondering what is the best combo to put in? Should I just do sand and macroalgae, should I add LR? Or should I just use bio-balls? Any opinions?

My sump is extremely simple....water coming in...a quality skimmer in the middle...and a return pump pushing water out....nothing else. In my refugium I have assorted sand types...rubble...crud....assorted caulperas. The refugium looks like a tide pool....full of micro fauna and macro algaes.
