QT question

I was looking at the 20g tank kits in Wal Mart and was wondering if the filters that come with them will do well for a QT tank. It looks like everything is for fresh water just not sure
. If I should buy seperate, what filter would be best to use? Also how strong of a powerhead should I use if any? Last question, If I add my CUC to my DT first, and start QT for fish at the same time (which should be 3-6 weeks correct?) if any parasite came in on the inverts, it should die before my fish are introduced to the DT since there was no fish in there for them to live on, is this correct? Thanks in advance!

The filters that come with the tanks are fine, but they are usually not very powerful. I usually go with a filter larger than the tank. For example I have a Whisper 40 on my 20 QT. A Maxi- Jet 600 or 900 will do for the power head. Yes, the CUC can be added to the tank before any fish and any parasites will die in three weeks without fish to host.
