Qt Tank

Im going to be setting my 72g bowfront tank up here in the next month or two. I am getting all things I need. After reading all this I really think I should setup a QT. How big do I need to get to do this? 10g, 15g, 20g? Also, Can I just use reg freshwater lighting? Just how much do I need to spend on this tank? I do not want to have to "make" a QT when I need it. I want to have one going when i buy fish and whatnot. Advice?

Congratulations on your decision.
A QT need not be expensive. The larger the better for a QT, expecially if you plan to add more than one fish at a time or to add larger fish. I think a 20 makes a good size but some people can get by with a smaller tank.
Normal aquarium lighting is fine. This tank will not usually have live rock or corals in it so the lighting only needs to be bright enough that you can see the fish to make sure they are healthy.
Some cheap filtration is helpful.
See the Basic FAQ sticky at the top of this forum for more complete information.
After your fish tank is stocked, the QT will get less usage. Some people keep one fish in there to make sure the tank is ready to go at any time.
