i just set up a QT to treat ich 30 gallon i used rodi water i have an emporor 400 and a maxi jet ph 295 gph for more circulation, i just filled it about 4 hours ago im waiting for the water to clear i added about a half inch of sand in the bottom so the fish cant see its reflection. my question is is it safe to put the fish in right away or does it need to cycle, and will the carbon in the filter remove the copper? the fish are a hippo tang and a coral beauty.

What you should have done is use the water in your main display tank for the emergency QT. That way, the uncycled QT will have the benefit of aged water that can “seed” your tank.
If you are suggesting that you are going to use copper to treat ich, I would say that you should go with hyposalinity instead. It is a better choice for treating ich.
Take a look at the FAQ section stickied at the top of this forum. There is info on QT as well as hypo.
Yes, carbon will remove copper, thus making copper treatment very difficult. When doing copper treatment, you need to maintain therapeutic copper levels, thus you need a test kit that is compatible with your copper.
