OK, my purple tang has ich, I noticed it back on Feb. 26th. I immediately read everything I could about ich and decided I needed to setup a quarantine tank. I happened to have a 20Gal. Long sitting there with nothing in it. I painted the back and bottom black, added a heater, one strip light, a Hang-on bio wheel filter with a carbon filter for one day, filled the tank with 1/2 water from Display and 1/2 newly mixed saltwater. I then took a sponge from my Display Sump that had been running for months, removed the carbon from the quarantine and added the sponge thinking that it would seed the tank with good bacteria. Checked the water parameters, everything looked great. I decided to go with a Copper Treatment after reading everything I could because I didn't have an accurate enough hydrometer and friends of mine have had great success with it. After successfully catching the Purple Tang (which took awhile), I acclimated him to the tank. He was eating, everything looked great for 5 days. Then, last night, the Purple Tang was swimming sideways near the bottom of the tank, his tail was looking white... didn't look good. I checked the Amonia level. SKY HIGH!! I immediately did a 50% water change and retested. The Ammonia was still high but not off the charts. What do I do now?! Please help...
