So from what I have read here, some of you have your lfs hold a fish for a week or so to make sure it is ok and eating as the quarantine and if all is well you bring it home and introduce it to your tank that same day?

Yes some of use will have a fish store hold a fish for us to make sure that it is ok and eating well. But I will not speak for everybody I will then take the fish home and still put it in a quarintine(sp) tank. Just to add more saftey before you put it in your main tank. Rather be safe then sorry.

I'm assuming running a quarantine tank off of the same sump as your main tank would not be a good idea, and from what I've seen on here, most people use a small tank and just do water changes. My question is, how well does a fish such as a tang, which needs swimming room do in such a small tank. And what lighting requirements does the tank need?

we really should Q for a month, especially wiht ick, which will live almost that long, and most lfs will not hold a fish for 30 days, and even if they did, who's to say that they did not get anything in the day befor you pick up the fish that got on or in your fish, right before you bring it home, thi sis one of those cases wher it is much better to be safe than sorry
and i would definitely have a seperate pump and water system all toghether(if you get ick in your quarentine, it is in the whole water column)
