would anyone know what would be the best way to setup a 20gallon quarantine tank. as in filtration and water quality parameters.i have currently got an eheim liberty 200 filter and a powerhead for circulation.the tank is bare as in no substrate. and the water is at 1.021 and has been in the tank for four days. is it possible to quarantine any livestock yet. i dont know how you would cycle a QT without any bioload inside. any ideas?

i would use the water out of your main tank in your Qtank. this way it is already cycled. no substrate is good in the fact that it is easier to clean the bottom, but bad in the fact that alot of good bacteria will live in the substrate. so i would use some water out of the main tank, and maybe throw some stress zyme in there, or something to get the cycle going a little bit before i put any fish in it. do the necessary tests, to find out where youre at.

Use your water from the main tank...as long as you are not having any disease problems in there and the water quality is good. Don't use substrate. Place some hiding places so your fish in the QT will be comfortable.
