Quarantine Tank??

I am going to buy some fish from this website. When I get the fish home what should I do? Are the fish kept in copper filled tanks at the store? Are they mostly disease free? I have heard a lot about quarantine tanks, but have never used one. How do I set one up? What do I look for in that tank and how does is get filtered? How long should the fish stay in it? The fish from my LFS are in copper treated tanks. Should I worry about them? The internet purchase worries me. My LFS will guarantee purchases and replace anything that dies, soon after purchase.

when you get the fish give them a freshwater dip and then put them in the quarentine tank.
they are easy to set up get a 10g tank, heater, thermometer,PVC scraps, live rock and a simple sponge filter. SET IT UP NOW so you can let it cycle. keep them in there for a couple weeks and look for any diseases. if everything looks good put them in the 90.GOOD LUCK!!!

I don't use live rock in a quarantine tank, because most people recommend that you sterilize the whole tank and everything in it after you are done. If you need to use copper, then you will not want to use that live rock in a reef tank anymore. I like to use a sponge filter. You can put the sponge in your sump or tank, and it will be loaded with bacteria from your display tank. When you're done, you can bleach it out for sterilization, then after curing put it back in your sump. I recommend quarantining any new arrivals for 3 weeks. If you add any new fish to the quarantine tank before the 3 weeks is up, then you have to wait another 3 weeks. There is a good article by Scott Michael about quarantine procedures I read, I think it was on the web, but I'm not sure.
