Quarantine tank

I am setting up my qt this week and wanted to get some feedback from the community before i make any purchases. I was lookig for a good 29 gallon setup for this project but havent come across any good deals.
I did however find a 55 gal. clist special that has a light, stand, filter and looks pretty good. Guy is even throwing in a carpet anemone and the false perc that is hosting it.
My question is: will the 55 be to big to be practical as a qt? I have a yellow tang, if he gets sick it would probably be nice to have the space. I have perused a lot of other qt threads and it seems like most are around 10-30 gallons. What do you guys think?

I think it would be good. If you got it cheep. The down side is it takes bigger water changes if and when you need one. Also it takes up more space. I keep a small QT because if I did not it would become my second DT. I also force my self to clean out the QT before I get any thing new...

I use an old 15 gallon that someone gave me. Like GeoJ said if you have to do emergency water changes it will take a lot more with the 55. It all depends what you are going to QT if they are tangs or larger fish like that then yes. I think there are some dollar a gallon sales going on a 20L makes an excellent QT. Here is a quick picture of my 15QT I have to Osc. clowns in it right now all I have is two smaller aquaclear HOB filters, I change the carbon out every 10 days or so.

i had a 55 qt for a couple years.until i needed the space .so now i have a 33 tall which i like alot more .but i try to buy 3-5 inch fish so the 55 was perfect.as said it is just like a dt at that size.i look on craigs list here and there and seems to me there are always 55 gallon tanks .i would do it i were you.i would never do a 10-20 qt unless it was for nano fish.the More room the less stress are far as i am concerned.also as you know if something goes wrong more water volumn to dilute the problem.
