In the planning stages of new setup and curious of a good size for a quarantine tank? I'm planning to quarantine more of the harder tangs so space is rather important to their survival. Any help greatly appreciated
I have a 30 gallon and that seems to be a popular size for a QT.I have QTed,a clown trigg,a humu,a juvi koran, and a chocolate tang and all dealt with it fine.Ofcourse they were not all in at the same time, each one was done alone.
Yeah wouldn't be planning on putting them all in at once, but with tangs such as PB, Achilles and such, it just seems alittle mean to keep them stuffed in such a small tank for an extended period of time during quarantine, and they do need plenty of swimming room, and it seems confining them to such a small area would add or possibly cause undue stress????
I would look at a 55gal, love my 55gal QT. They are 4-foot long so there's room for the tangs to swim, but they aren't 'that big' of tank, and a water change of 10 gallons is still a significant percentage. They're an extremely popular tank so you should be able to find locally, that's pretty cheap as well.

Yeah the tank I'll build out of acrylic just not sure I actually need the height of a 55 or so?
Yea, it would be fine to have the height lower. Around 12" or so as a minimum?
