when quarentining new fish...should you hypo all new fish as a form of treatment (obviously not all fish can take a hypo...but for the ones that can...). Or should the salinity be kept normal in the quarentine and the fish be watched closely for a week?

Its a matter of choice. You can hypo all bony fish, which are most fish that we keep in our tanks.
Terry is suggesting to go ahead and hypo all incoming fish prior to entry into the main tank. It makes sense and there really is no reason not to do it. Fish will be in QT a bit longer with a full hypo treatment [an extra wk].

Hyposalinity is a mechanism of treating marine ich. It involves lowering the salinity to a specific gravity of 1.009 and maintaining the fish in hypo saline conditions for 3 weeks.
