I wanted to know everyones oppinion on whetherI should quarentine a volitan lion. I am not worried about disease with it as much as I want to get it eating dead things before puting it in my display aquarium. He will be the first fish in the tank after it cycles. Should I quarentine it?

If you have more than one volitan you can just put them into the tank. (After it cycles of course.) They will actually learn from each other because in the wild lionfish are group hunters and are very quick learners. If you just have one then you should try feeding him krill on a feeding stick and wiggle it around to simulate motion. If that fails you can try impaling a feeder with a piece of krill on a airline tube and sticking it in front of his face. He will most definately take the feeder, and when he gets a taste of the krill he will eventually learn to take that as well. Don't put him in with other tankmates that eat krill already or they will surely snap it up before he does until he is completely used to the feeding cycle. After he becomes used to the dead/frozen food he will generally never miss a feeding time.
