Queen Angel Fish

Does anyone have any experiece with Queen Angel Fish? I just recently purchased one. It seems to have adjusted very well in a short period of time. I have just read that they "can" be difficult to keep. I guess what I am looking for is what to look out for to avoid problems. Any help would be appreciated.

In case I don't see this again after you post the info....I will say they are completely different fish almost after changing from a juvi...nice as a juvi, but mean as an adult that can reach around 18 inches. My fav fish BTW.:)

Has anyone had one in a reef? I want one for my 200, but i am reluctant bc i don't want it to chow down on my corals. I know it's a individual thing, but has anyone had success with one in a "large" reef?

Mine wasn't in such a large reef, but it took chunks out of leathers, and ate any part of the cleanup crew it felt like. As a juvi, their colors are even seen as a "cleaner" by other fish....as an adult...they have no place in a reef..... polyps, corals, crabs, snails....it tasted it all looking for something good to eat. They would even kill their young if not for the colors. Mine even tore apart a stingray one day, and chewed through the belly of a cowfish as a juvi....trying to clean I believe, but even without trying they are pretty destructive. A 200 gallon would not be enough in my opinion if you planned on keeping it forever......they have HUGE territories in the wild....hardy fish, but destructive in my opinion.....after they change colors that is.

This is information about the Queen Angelfish i got from Scott W. Michael's book "Marine Fishes".
Maximum Length: 17.7 in
Range: Tropical Atlantic
Minimum Size Aquarium: 180 gal.
Foods: Sponge-feeder, some aquarium foods
Reef Compatibility: Not Recomended
Care: Drawbacks--it's large size and pugnacious disposition. Esp. aggressive. Imperative to place in large aquarium and add it to a community tank last.
IMO: While it is a beautiful species, it is probably better off left in the wild or with the most experienced hobbiest who is willing to care for it properly.
Please research the species before you buy it. Don't mean to be rude but more than likely your fish will not make it unless you are prepaired to take the necessary steps to care for such a species.

Well, that's why i never bought one, but it doesn't hurt to see if anyone did have success in a reef.

The queen is the prettiest thing that exists out there!
I wish I had a bigger tank now so I could get one now, although I necver had a problem with it in the old tank....
