I have done quite a bit of research on conch in the past couple of days wanting to cheap out and use crown conch out of the bay here in FL to supplement my clean up crew. I got my hands on a few "studies" that probably cost millions of dollar (and most likely tax payers dollars) and the end verdict after all that was basically, "where not really sure", and with that rock solid conclusion thank God there parents spent all that money for them to get there PHDs
After all what would this world be like without expensive, lengthy and inconclusive studies on balls of slime?
Most leaned toward the opinion that conch in general where predatorial and cannibalistic and would prefer a meaty food over algae and detritus which is the reason we would want them in or aquariums. Only good point was that they where definitely good sand stirs.
My verdict with my lowly high school education and after a couple hours research and 0 dollars spent is that they are not going to be in my aquarium
I would say brittle stars and turbos are a much better option.
