Question - 3.x MEgapixel VS 4.x Megapixel??

OK how big of a differnce is there?? Thinking the 3.x megapixel cameras are a bit easier on the pocket book and more do-able ..... what do you think?
What is the big difference in quality? Anyone post some comparison photos??
