Question about chalice coral...

I got a very pretty pink chalice coral frag from the LFS for free a few weeks ago. It had 4 mouths on it when i got it. I couldnt believe my buddy from the store gave it to me for free, He said 10 at first, and i was more than happy to pay 10, then he said 5, which was awesome. And then when i went to checkout he told me to just go ahead and take it for free.
Anyways... I decided to frag it in half, which caused it to frag into 4 pieces. So i have 4 pieces each with one mouth and 1 of the pieces has 2 mouths.
Do these coral grow by encrusting over rocks, or do they grow their own skeleton. I am thinking that they encrust, but am not really sure. They have already grown a tiny bit in the past 2 weeks, and i cant wait to have 4 beautiful pieces in my tank..

What color are the mouths? Do you have any pics? I've got a pink chalice and a Tyree watermelon chalice comin in on thursday and I'm impatient to see what the pink looks like.. I figure it might look similar to yours.

If its the same watermelon type that ive seen it will be gorgeous! Mine is a kind of reddish brown body with a whole lot of pink striped bumps running all over it. I will try and get a decent pic tonight. their very pretty! How big are the pieces? Mine are mabye half an inch wide be half an inch long. Not real big, but they were free, and i have four pieces, so im not complaining! The mouths are pink and red.

The Tyree is neon pink with green mouths... Absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, the piece I'm getting is TINY basically the size of one mouth with a little bit left on the side, since the prices for it are ridiculous. The other chalice I'm getting has yet to be determined... With a guess, I would say 4 or 5 mouths.
And that's one good deal you got there

I know, i couldnt believe he gave it to me for free, i sure didnt argue though!! I have been feeding mine about 5 times a week. Seems like alot, but i can already see growth on them. Not HUGE growth, but compared to how slow these normally grow its decent. Mabye the distance between these two parantheses l....l from all sides of each mouth. Which is alot on such a small piece in only 2 weeks.

So feed them alot, their mouths open HUGE at night, its pretty cool whenthe mouths open.
