Question about clams

Can I put a littleneck clam in my tank to filter the sand?
I have a cherry stone in the tank now, but it seems too big
for my little (12 Gallon) tank. The clam seems to get stuck in between
the rock and glass and is really putting trenches in the sand bed

Compact, energy-efficient Fluorescent Lamp, 5000K 13W.
It cam with the setup (Eclipse System Twelve).
The sand bed is about two inches.

Thank you for the opinion, I’m going to get rid
of the cherry clam and go with a little neck.

yeah, those clams do not need any lighting, they are non-photosynthetic. The reason why he is makeing a mess of yoru sand is they burry themselves in it and use their necks to reach up so it is just at the top of the sand, then they filterfeed. To have one, you just need to make sure you have pleanty of food in your water. It should be plankton too.
