question about floresent lighting

I have a question i am not sure wicth one is right when i went to petsmart i wanted to buy floresent lights it was to buy the
48" 10000K Fluorescent Lamp 40 Watt 360 Degree T12 and then i went to another fish store and they had the same exact product but insted they had a sticker slaped on and said that these are vho. SO is it possible for me to keep the floresent light in a standard floresent canopy.
It says on www.petsmart.com that it will work but in the other fish store it says that i can't. there is also another sticker put on that says its 90 watts.
i confused can somebody tell me if i can use these floresent lamps?

I saw those and was woundering the same thing

Call or email the company who makes the bulb. That is what I did and I put a reef sun 50/50 bulb in a flourescent canopy and it works just fine.

From what ive read, they will work but it wont help nearly as much as if u got a ballister.
