The tank I am building will be 36 tall 48 wide and 26 deep. I planed on going with 1/2 in tempered. Most people I have talk with think it will be enough but none of them are familiar with aquariunms. Any help will be apriciated.

I'd say that will be okay, especially if you use tempered glass.
If you are building a tank, you may want to check out using Starphire glass for the front panel, as with 1/2" thick glass, the "greenishness" will be noticeable.
You may also consider having your tank professional built if you arent' sure. Glass Cages will build a tank to your specs for you. You'll pay a bit more, but you'll have a warranty and the peace of mind of knowing that the tank is properly engineered.

I agree, but don't buy from Glass Cages if you are expecting any post purchase service or warrenty work. They is a reason they are that cheap.

If you go tempered, just make darn sure what you want to do with the tank. once built tempered you won't be able to drill. However you can drill then temper the pain.
