Question about metal halides lighting?

I have been reading about halides lighting and am woundering what is best type of halides lighting? I know there is the older type of halides which is Single-Ended MH lighting that has a uv protection, then there is Double-Ended MH which doesnt have UV protection and can burn the corals, but its more energy efficient and is a little cheaper. I dont know which one to go with and what would you guys recommend? I am going to build a custom canopy for my 90gal tank.

You are correct sir! The single ended do not need additional UV protection where the doubles need to have a pc. of UV glass between them and the water. If I were building it I would go with the DE's and get a pc. of glass to put in between them and the tank.
Let's see what others say though.

I have had both and like the DE color and start up much better. Especially with a nice magnetic ballast you can really get some awesome buisness out of them
