Unless your ballast is specifically rated to do so, no.
The 150/175 combination is the one and only place in metal halide land where occasionally lamps and ballasts can be swapped around. Some halide ballasts are designed to run either, and it will say so on the ballast... Do you know the ballast's ANSI code? It'll probably be M137 or M57.
The ballast DOES have to be HQI... I am fairly certain that the only 150/175w "either-or" ballasts are M57 probe, which will not fire a DE lamp.
