Question about my Feather Duster

I have had my tank set up since Dec. 11th, and I got my Red/Pink feather duster on 01-17-06. Here is his deal..... He didn't open up for the first week, then when he did I got excited and put him where I want to place him in the tank. When I did this he decided that he didn't want to open up any more. Well till this night I went and played a trick on him and shocked him with my normal lights, he was open during the night... is this normal? He is very beautiful..... I just found out, cause i had not seen him. But is this normal that he would only come out at night? Cause if so I find that way unfair cause I want to sleep during the night .... not have to view him....lol.... I already know the who what when why and wheres are coming about the water peramiters...... every thing is fine, except that I am at 12.2 on alk not that far off (range should be 8-12 right?).... Any ideas how I can draw him out during the day???? Thanks for anything you can provide!

Do you turn on a pump or powerhead in the morning? If lights are the only difference between day and night, then there's not much you can do about it. Just leave it be for a while - I don't think they like to be moved very much. I don't think they like strong flow either.

I agree with the above post...my dusters won't show their crown if water flow is too high. But he is probably just getting comfortable with his surroundings. All of my feather dusters open during the day, so maybe he'll warm up over time.

Well you know how it goes... since I asked the question about him last night.... I check him out this morning... and he is open... Looking great, of course! I think that he had lost all his feathers during shipment, and that is why I had not seen him, cause when I saw him last week, there were no feathers... So glad I didn't give up on him, cause I darn near did! LOL They always say waiting is the key to this salt water, and I am glad I did, cause he is cute!!!!
