question about my fuzzy dwarf.

So I recently got a fuzzy dwarf.
He had been at the LFs for 4 weeks prior to me purchasing him. The day I bought him I noticed a small tear in his lip. The Owner stated that he had 'rushed' at her tweezers that morning when she fed him, and he tore his mouth.
I left him at the LFS in thier hospital tank, with medication for a week before I came back to get him.
Question lies here: When I first purchased him he looked good other than the lip tear, and his eyes were clear.
When I picked him up a week later, I thought his eyes looked a little cloudy, but kinda passed it off as my imagination.
Now that he is more social in the tank, I can see that his eyes are definetly cloudier than when I originally 'purchased' him.
Question is :
1- could his eyes get cloudy, or get worse in the week I left him at the LFS or does it take longer? I swear the first week they looked clear, and just a week later, at the LFS he looked cloudy.
2- He is eating frozen like a pig. I started with krill/prawn soaked in Zoe, and today tricked him into some silverside peices and a peice of shrimp. Am I doing the right thing to help his eye condition?
What do you all feed your lions to ensure the correct nutrition? I think I can get him to eat any peice of meat on a stick, he is pretty good like that, but all Im trying now is diversity in his foods, soaking in Zoe and little garlic sometimes. . Is there anything else I can do besides that?
I have had him since this past thursday, meaning like 5 days.
thanks ahead for any help you guys can provide.

If you see cloudy eyes it is a sign of bacterial infection, treat. I use K-Mycin/Kanamycin, very easy to use, treat for 5 - 7 days.
If treating in the water, directions are on the package, Do Not treat the display tank.
I treat orally in the display, and use it in the food, I take shrimp, make a small slice, place the medication in, pinch it closed, place on my feeder stick and feed. The oral dose for Kanamycin is 50mg of kanamycin per kilogram of fish weight or 23mg per pound of fish. Treat 5 - 7 days.
Orally works well for me, but you do not want to over dose the lion.

I have some maracyn plus is that the same thing?
I used it in the DT a while back with a clown that was sick, and it didnt hurt anything.
So the antibiotics you are talking about are pellet form?
I have a 5g standalone tank, but I dont feel comfortable putting him in there.
What if I soaked his food in the maracyn would that work?
He eats whatever I offer him, he just ate some shrimp on the feeding prong for me. And he has also eaten silversides, prawn etc.
If I could get the medication on that stick with the food he would take it I think.
What do you think Kaye?
Thanks for always helping, Im gonna send you some chocolates

also...
Im finding alot of information on the web about cloudy eye being a result of poor diet.
I know at the LFS he came from he was ONLY getting krill. Could this also be the issue?
What do you think? I dont want to do the wrong thing.
Jess
got this off of WetWeb
"Cloudy, otherwise damaged eyes:
Pop-eye/Exophthalmia, Cloudy Eyes & Eye Injuries If unilateral (one-sided) most often due to physical trauma. If bilateral (both sides) or other fish life similarly afflicted, due to poor environment and/or nutrition. Rarely due to infectious or parasitic agents."
I wonder if when the LFS put him in thier 'hospital tank' for a week before I picked him up (the mouth injury I spoke of above) had something to do with this. His mouth is totally healed though. Maybe poor water conditions?
Im pretty sure my water is A.O.K. I do water changes evry two weeks, top off daily, test param weekly, clean sponges/filter media weekly. I have a mandarin since 3/07 and a goby since 1/07 both healthy as horses.

I know you can use Maracyn 2 with the cloudy eyes, I am not familiar with maracyn plus.
So the antibiotics you are talking about are pellet form?
They are capsules.
What if I soaked his food in the maracyn would that work?
I have never soaked the food in medication, I am not sure if the food will soak enough up to have an effect.
He eats whatever I offer him, he just ate some shrimp on the feeding prong for me. And he has also eaten silversides, prawn etc.
What about injecting some medication in the mouth of a silverside, with a syringe? It may work.........

Im gonna send you some chocolates
Yummy!!! OK, I am going to hold you to that

Hard to say what caused it, this may just be a secondary bacterial infection from the injury, secondary infections are pretty common. It could be diet, but diet seems more overtime (months), than weeks.
Cloudy eyes are pretty easy to cure, here are two different lions with cloudy eyes.
This lion was in pretty bad shape, as you can see, but this only took about 7 days to clear the eyes, the Ich was another issue.......

Here is another lion I took in, this is just poor water and diet.

Feel Better after seeing these two?

my lions eyes dont look anything like that.
His are 'cloudy' but more like in a reflective way. Kinda like how a puffers eyes arent quite 'clear' thats how mines look.
The pic above you posted looks pretty bad, like milky. My fuzzy doesnt have that 'milky' look, U know its probably hard to see in my pictures, but now Im thinking maybe its not the same as 'cloudy eye syndrome?'
What a pain. Lol I just want to help him if he is sick.
Also:
Razor Vampire I love your purple lion fish! Is it really purple?
I dont think so! I think the lighting was probably reflecting off the coralline... or maybe MARS.
lol.

Here is my fuzzy, the eyes do not look clear, but they really are clear, like you said "His are 'cloudy' but more like in a reflective way".

Maybe just watch him over the next few days and see how it goes........ Very nice fuzzy BTW.

hello Kaye
He is doing quite well! He is eating like a pig and is very social.
He will eat anything I put on the feeding prong, so thats pretty easy to give him a diversified diet. He comes right to me at feeding time.
I hope he continues to do well!
Any pointers you can offer are always helpful!

thanks again

fuzzys dont pick on coral (that I know of). I actually got a puffer before the fuzzy and he made a buffet of my reef! Myfuzzy is very social but not 'agressive' as you would think. He doesnt bother my other fish (mandarin and a goby) and he doesnt look twice at my shrimp (blood shrimp, pepp. shrimp and cleaner). the only thing I worry about is my pompom crab because he is small, but he stays hidden and I dont think he leaves himself vulnerable.
He has the greatest personality and he is just adorable when he gets all 'displayed' during exciting times.... like feeding time haha.
you can check out more pics of my tank on my Picture thread
I just put some new ones up of him.
Thanks alot, happy reefing

i know you probably have your answer but I have read that intense lighting can cause "blindness" in lions and may have cause the milky look thou I have never accually seen a "blink" lion but have been descibed to by my LFS.

I have 150w Metal halide
and a 130w PC (50/50)
over a 44g
I think his eyes are ok, they have a little 'reflectiveness' but not cloudy like the pics Ive seen of sick lions.
He eats like a pig and is very active so I think he is doing ok.
Time will tell.
Thanks for your continued input and support guys
