Hi guys, I'm new here. I've been a long time cichlid enthusiast but recently set up my first 20gal FOWLR tank. I've been looking around for a skimmer and it looks like the AquaC and CPR skimmers are the most widely used. Which would be a better skimmer for my 20gal? The AquaC Remora, AquaC Remora Nano, or CPR bakpak 2? I also see that they offer some preskimmer boxes. What is the function of these, and will I be needing one?
I'm currenly using two Aqua Clear 30 HOB's and a Koralia 425 powerhead. I have 20lbs of live sand, and about 15-18lbs of live rock. I will be removing one of the Aqua Clear 30s to replace with the skimmer.
The owner of the LFS told me that the skimmer is not absolutely necessary but will save me some water changes. Currently i'm doing 25% water changes weekly. So how long would I be able to go without doing water changes if i have a skimmer?
