question about refuge /skimmer

Is it necessary to have a refuge for a 24gal
and also is it necessary to have a skimmer for 24gal?
I tired the current usa skimmer and it is crap. So I dont have a skimmer.
Also, what are the good and the bad things to having a refugium?
I currently have a 24 gal and I am keeping elegance coral, frogspawn, sun coral, red brain coral, hammer coral, mushrooms, zoos, a clam, star polyps and 2 anemones.
Do I need a skimmer and or a refugium?? My tank has been up and running without one for almost 5months now.
Your advice is very appreciated.

Hello, you do not have to have a refuge, It would be better if u did but again you dont have to. I would invest in another protein skimmer though.

I run a back pac by CPR and just love the job it does. It also is deul purpose with a bio area that really did wonders for my tank.

I am not going to say that it is better without a skimmer but I will say that most people who run nano cubes and aquapods dont use a skimmer. I dont use a skimmer but I use a product called Purigen and my tank has been going very well.
I do plan on adding a skimmer when they come out with a nano skimmer that works.
