ok so im looking to do just a small 10 gallon project really soon and Ive seen people on here or what it seemed it looked like, that there not using any kinda of fliters for the system just a powerhead. Now if I decided to have a 10 gallon should I go with out the filter or should I at lest use a skimmer or what? Plus im really confused about the hole lighting factor as well if some one could explain to me what kinda lighting I would neet to do ect ect ect ect.

I'm not sure about the filtration, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to fit a protein skimmer in there. For the lighting do you want a reef tank? If so you need around 7 watts per gallon (depending on your tank height) to be able to hold anything. You just need standard fluorescent lighting to hold fish, just so they know day from night.

okay so a great light for standard 10's are the coralife 96w quad bulb 50/50 = bout $88 bucks online...
as for filtration... some of us run a HOB filter and no skimmer and that is natural filtration, letting the LR and LS do all the work...
i run a prism skimmer on the back of my 10 along with a couple small PH's
hope that helps
