I saw on a thread that you work for accuweather. How do you forecast the weather out 15 days??? Accuweather is the only place i found tat goes out that far, others only go like 7 days

It is more of a guess and experiance in wheather patterens. if you watch the jet steam and wheather from the east or north, you can make an educated guess on what the wheather will do. remember it is just a perdiction.

I wish I had a job were everything I did was guesswork. No critical projects and deadlines. Just make some guesses and throw it out there. Now that I think about it, I should have been a weatherman. It's perfect. If my girlfriend wanted to drag me over to Disney on a Saturday, I could eaily get out of it by predicting heavy thunderstorms.
Dang I missed my calling.

NO lie..What other job can you get away with saying 50% one way or the other, and people try and plan around it..

Well if I had a choice for a job, I would have been a chiropractor. Have some one come to your office for 5 minutes and pay you like $40.00 each time. multiply that times 20 people a day for a year and you are making some serious money. Too top it all off, you can even tell them that getting adjusted could have a 50% chance in making them feel better...

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. All I do is draw the maps they use on TV. But let me put it to you this way. I draw a different map for the coming week at least once a day. Their predictions change that often. Granted there is probably some science to it, but the way these guys carry on around here you'd think this was the most critical industry on the planet. So to predict 15 days ahead isn't that tough. You make a random guess and just fix it as the day gets closer. I take a sick sense of satisfaction when they screw up royal though. The best is if you keep track of predicted hurricane tracks. Those change so much inside of 24 hours it's ridiculous. Frankly, also a pain in the ass. So you can predict as far as you want... Doesn't mean a thing when it's really wrong.
