Ok..if this is the dumbest thing you ever heard, forgive me, but here goes:
Many people seem to have a problem with ICH from new arrivals, hence the need for quarantine. It occurred to me that having the quarantine tank at 1.009 may be an interesting idea, since if they new arrivals carry ich this would eradicate it. Since the new arrivals should be in quarantine at least 3 weeks, one could leave the 1.009 for a week, then slowly raise the salinity to match a main tank over the course of the quarantine. I figured by getting the SG of the water the fish come in, then slowly aclimating new arrivals to the 1.009 (in the quarantine tank) this would completely solve any imported ich problems. Am I nuts?
