All of my fish are out of my 55 gallon, and in my 35 gal QT. (ich outbreak)
With the 5W UV on, about how long before I could put fish back into the main tank?
I am lowering the salinaty to 1.009 and am going to keep it there for a week or so to kill the ichies. Is this the right process ?

that sounds like a good plan. wait at least a month to break the parasite's life cycle. try feeding the infected fish some garlic enriched food to boost their immune response while in quarantine. hope this helps :)

A UV is not nessessary when using the hyposalinity method to cure ick in a Q-tank. It probably won't hurt anything, i just don't think it will help more than using plain ol' hypo method.
Keep your fish in the Q-tank for a min of 30 days. After this peroid the ick will have died off in the main tank as well as on your fish. :) I also agree with keitho, feed fish with garlic soaked foods. Even after the fish go back in your main tank, still periodicly(once or twice a week) feed the garlic soaked foods. HTH
Good luck.
