question on air pumps

I've got a TetraTec air pump for my skimmer. Just bought the skimmer the pump. But I have a problem with the pump. It's noisy. You can hear the vibration, thru the whole room. Is there a tip or trick to quiet it down, or should i just return it, and get a different one. If I should return it, please tell me which brand to get.

Have you made sure that it isn't up against something, vibrating against it? You may try folding a washcloth and placing it underneath it to buffer the bottom of it. Or even wrapping it in a hand towel, it won't block air intake but it may make it a bit quieter. Or, get more airline tubing and move it to a different place and see if it is quieter in a new location.
