Question on coral growth

i have a 29 gallon fish/reef tank. And i have a xenia, which i know are supposed to grow really fast. I bought it around Feb. and its barely grown. I went to my LFS and they got em growin on the glass faster than mine does! ive been adding iodine, cyclop eeze and all the other things they feed on, but its not growing that fast. If there is anything that i can do to accelerate its growth? :help:

I have never fraged a coral before...where can i read about this..or can you explain...or have any tips?

How much lighting do you have?

Thanks alot for the info, i already fraged a piece of the xenia and it lived! I added it to a rock that has a ricordia mushroom growing on it. Anyways, i still need to know how to accelerate its growth. Is there any paticular place i can put it so it grows faster???

Closer to the light would be my first guess. The more light the better it would be. That's why I asked about your lighting.

I knew all of this, but its still not helping. The light is like a 96watt in a 29 gallon. The Xenia will rise out of the water if it goes any higher. When i place it in current, it will shrivel up, not fully but 1/2 way and wont pulsate as it does with a medium current.

you need more light for better growth..thats the only thing you can do it seems

i have never had to frag mine, they grow and split, spread and move on their own very quickly, just give them some time, once they start taking off they dont stop!

kinda like my ric too, though they seem to like the umbrella effect but some have split and moved elsewhere (the ric that is)

this pic was taken in the very beginning, that shell is now empty, they have moved on (as you can see)

Thanks for all your help guys. Im amazed by the way your xenia has grown all over your tank! I wish mine would grow all over my tank like that

I would recomend using some of the DNA for sale on this site. Use it for about a month and you will notice an increase in size, I started using it and have noticed overal health improvement in everything!
