We have a couple of leathers that are doing awesome and I would like to cut a frag from each, my question is when is it the best time to do it, first thing in the am when they are still closed or when they are fully opened. I would like everyones opinion expecially those who have done this with great sucess. Thanks in advance, Lisa

I'm not really sure about the timing....but I have had success cutting both my sarcophyton and my cabbage.....each was cut when fully open. Small frags were removed and placed in a low current area with some rubble rock.....I've got 2 small frags of each that are doing well. The sarcophyton sort of manufactured its own frags...small sections started to seperate on their own and I just cut them away. The cabbage was very easy to frag. Come to think of it...I've also split my finger leather into seperate colonies also....but that one I just split the origional into seperate sections and each is now fine. Best of luch creating new ones for your system.....

Since you made this post, you will probably check it, so I will ask. What is with your status? You have 1655 posts, and your status says "Semilarvatus". Is that a type of shark? I'm a little confused, so, thanks in advance for clearing it up.

Demosthenes, that is not a shark. To be shark, you have to answer the questions at the best of your ability, and dont flame to much, etc. Anyway, it doesnt matter how many times you post, you will never get up to shark unless the admin thinks you are good enough for mod. Look at risc, he only has 489 posts, and he is shark, cuase he gave exelent answers, and did the best he could. I have no idea what the status is of BLUEBARRYBOOMER or what it means. I hope i answered the q for you.

Well, I made a post called Status when I was still a damsel, and I was told by the sharks that status was only a way of indicating how many posts were made. So, I'm taking their words for it. I'm still confused though.

Thanks NMReef, the info you provided will be most helpful.
Demosthenes, in answer to your question a Semilarvatus, is a Butterfly fish.
After so many posts your status changes to a different kind of fish, it really doesn't mean anything, just something fun to show how many posts you have. Hope that helps clear up your confusion. Lisa :)

Hey lisa I hope your frags do well....and for helping I do get pick of the litter right??? :D
Best of luck...and sorry I couldn't help more but my experience in fragging is limited. Adrian seems very knowledgeable...catch him if you can he's a good source of info on fragging matters!
In short response to status questions:
names change due to number of posts....don't really mean much other than indication of the number of posts. As far as reaching shark status....that is a decision made and approved above the board level. If we were to expose the system used to select not to mention initiate sharks...well then we'd both have to die to futher shroud the dark secrets!!!! :D  :p
