I am in the process of setting up a 38 gallon reef tank dimensions 36"x12.25"x20" with 60 lbs of LR and 50 lbs of live sand. I built the stand a couple of years ago for a FW setup and didn't leave enough room underneath for a sump/ref because at that time I had no Idea what one was. I built it using a 2"x2" frame with four 2"x2" corner posts and two 2"x2" center posts, and it is covered with 1-2" birch finishing plywood. It is 38" long and 42" tall. My question is can I remove the rear center post and leave it out so I can fit standard size tank in it or will it make the stand to weak? Tank is sitting on the 2"x2" frame.
I have read on some of your threads that you doe not use center braces on your stands Squidd. Do you think I could eliminate my back center brace?
P.S. I am getting closer to being ready to tweek my sump/Ref. Will need help figuring out plumbing and pump sizes to get desired gph. A couple more days of sudying your previous threads and I should be ready.
Thanks

I'm not really sure but don't know if I'd risk it since you used 2x2 lumber for framing the stand. If you had said 2x4 I would have said go for it.....
