Question On Lighting

I am not sure where to place the light. On top of the glass top or use the legs that came with the light and without the glass top. I heard that the glass will filter out some light and some important rays. Is there any truth to that?

To answer your question not really, but when glass get crusty from salt spray then yes. If this a reef tank and no jumping fish (even tho I had a clown jump, I blame the coral banded shrimp) I would leave top off. It allows better gas exchange and oxygen to tank. Beside it looks cool looking down on the coral.
