question on ls

right now i have cc do not really like the way it looks how much ls is enough i have a 55gal
whats the best Sand Depth?

IMO either go with a very shallow sandbed 1" or below, or go with a 4"+ DSB,
I sort of prefer the shallow sandbed, DSB do require some knowledge and maintenance.
If you go with the shallow you will need something on the tank for exporting nitrates, like a LOT of LR or a refugium with macro algae.

I have about 2 inches in some area and 3 inches in other area. I have live rocks in my tank, the sand bed is doing fine taking out nitrates. Lots of nitrogen bubbles. There's another post recently talking about this. You don't need 4" sandbed to do this. :happyfish

2 or 3 twenty-five pound bags should get you where you want to be. I have 3 in my 70. Add 2, see if you like how deep it looks, if you want more, add another one.
